Side effects: Hypersensitivity reactions with sweating, tachycardia and skin reactions are possible. Anaphylactic reactions with shortness of breath and tightness in the throat may occur. Very rarely, acne as well as eczematous and urticarial reactions, hives and itching have been reported with methylcobalamin. Overmethylation may cause restlessness and sleep disturbances. Folic acid may be associated with gastrointestinal complaints, sleep disturbances, agitation and depression. In rare cases, anaphylactic reactions to intravenous thiamine have been reported; therefore, the dosage should be increased slowly. Dexpanthenol may rarely lead to cardiac arrhythmias and bradycardia. Long-term overdose of vitamin B6 may have neurotoxic effects.

Contraindications: Methylcobalamin: cobalt allergy, Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy and hypokalemia. Generally not for use in children under 6 years of age. In case of impaired kidney, liver or heart function and albumin deficiency, an adjustment of the individual dose is recommended. Patients taking beta-blockers have an increased risk of a decompensated cardiovascular reaction, as beta-blockers can inhibit the effect of adrenaline in emergency medical treatment. Patients with a tendency to allergic reactions and/or with diseases based on histamine release, for example asthma, should be questioned about known allergens in accordance with the principles of therapeutic due diligence.

Note for doctors and therapists: In principle, the doctor/therapist determines the indication for individual prescriptions. The suggestion is merely a recommendation for a therapy option, whereby the dosage and frequency of application are solely at the discretion of the doctor/therapist. The treating therapist is responsible for the treatment and must individually check and assess the respective application for each patient before the start of treatment.

The bibliographic references have been researched by us with the utmost care. Nevertheless, we assume no liability for the completeness and timeliness of the study information. Many of the treatment options mentioned in the product information are based on findings obtained from animal or human cell cultures, animal testing, observational studies, and to a lesser extent, randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
The evidence base for complementary medicines is continuously evolving, which can partly lead to different results. We therefore recommend that therapists always carefully review the current evidence before using such preparations.
