Side effects: Hypersensitivity reactions with sweating, tachycardia, and skin reactions are possible. Very rarely, acne as well as eczematous and urticarial reactions, hives, and itching have been reported with methylcobalamin. Overmethylation may cause restlessness and sleep disturbances. In rare cases, anaphylactic reactions to intravenous thiamine have been reported; therefore, the dosage should be increased gradually. Dexpanthenol may rarely cause cardiac arrhythmias and bradycardia. Long-term overdose of vitamin B6 may have neurotoxic effects.

THERAPY RECOMMENDATION

Positive effects: Vitamin B-complex Injekt combines six B vitamins that act as precursors to coenzymes involved in numerous metabolic processes. The formulation contains neither biotin nor folic acid. In cases of proven deficiency and with careful therapeutic consideration, use may also be considered in oncology patients.

  • supports mitochondria, energy metabolism and vitality
  • involved in glutathione metabolism
  • relevant in vitamin deficiency anemias
  • supports nerve regeneration and mental stability
  • supports immune competence
  • involved in the catalytic activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes and thus in liver metabolic processes
  • supports homocysteine metabolism
  • supports heart function
  • involved in the regulation of various neurotransmitters such as adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, melatonin and GABA
  • Vitamin B6 is involved in the regulation of cortisol metabolism
  • supports skin, hair and mucous membranes
  • supports vision

Therapeutic recommendations: There is evidence that the properties of the substances contained in the product may have a positive effect on health disorders related to the following indications:

  • in mitochondrial diseases and lactic acidosis, as an adjunct therapy
  • as part of recuperative therapy after severe illness or surgery
  • in depression, fatigue, burnout and CFS
  • in oxidative stress, increased irritability and concentration disorders
  • in iron deficiency anemia
  • in peripheral neuropathies, muscle weakness and fibromyalgia
  • in bacterial infections to support phagocytosis
  • in cognitive disorders
  • in CHD, high blood pressure and elevated homocysteine levels
  • in leaky gut syndrome
  • in cryptopyrroluria
  • in adrenal cortex dysfunction
  • to support vision

Contraindications: Methylcobalamin: cobalt allergy, Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy and hypokalemia. Generally not for use in children under 6 years of age. In cases of impaired kidney, liver or heart function and albumin deficiency, adjustment of the individual dose is recommended. Patients taking beta-blockers have an increased risk of a decompensated cardiovascular reaction, as beta-blockers can inhibit the effect of adrenaline in emergency medical treatment. Patients with a tendency to allergic reactions and/or with diseases based on histamine release, such as asthma, should be questioned about known allergens in accordance with the principles of therapeutic due diligence.

Note for doctors and therapists: In principle, the doctor/therapist determines the indication for individual prescriptions. The proposal is merely a recommendation for a therapy option, whereby the dosage and frequency of use are solely at the discretion of the doctor/therapist. The treating therapist is responsible for the treatment and must individually check and assess the respective application for each patient before the start of treatment.

The bibliographic references have been researched by us with the utmost care. Nevertheless, we assume no liability for the completeness and timeliness of the study information. Many of the therapy options mentioned in the product information are based on findings obtained from animal or human cell cultures, animal testing, observational studies, and to a lesser extent, randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
The evidence base for complementary medicines is continuously evolving, which can partly lead to different results. We therefore recommend that therapists always carefully review the current evidence before using such preparations.
