PRODUCT INFORMATION

Composition:

  • L-Arginine-HCl 2000 mg
  • Citric acid-phosphate buffer
  • Aqua ad injectabilia ad 20 ml

Application:i.v., always prepare infusion solution fresh, dilute as monoinfusion in 100ml NaCl 0.9%, for hypotonic patients 500ml, see side effects

Infusion set:Intrafix © Air P

Duration of infusion:30 minutes

Therapy interval:1-2 times per week, based on the patient's health status

Duration of treatment:8 weeks, based on the patient's health status

Storage:15 – 25°C

Side effects:High L-arginine levels, when accompanied by low L-lysine availability, can promote the reactivation of herpes simplex viruses. Increased NO production under L-arginine can inhibit platelet aggregation, potentially leading to a slight prolongation of bleeding time. Existing hypotension can be exacerbated. Therefore, blood pressure measurement is recommended before infusion, and the volume of the carrier solution should be increased to 500ml.

THERAPY RECOMMENDATION

Positive effects:

  • L-arginine is a semi-essential amino acid, but many studies prove L-arginine to be indispensable. L-arginine serves as a protein building block.
  • L-arginine is the only precursor of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). NO production leads to vasodilation.
  • L-arginine induces iNOS in immune system cells. Here, NO has a cytotoxic effect and serves to defend against bacteria.
  • L-arginine is the precursor of neuronal NOS (nNOS) and induces the secretion of glutamate.
  • L-arginine activates mitochondrial NOS.
  • L-arginine, as a precursor to nitric oxide (NO), has a dichotomous effect on cancer cells. NO is associated with the pathogenesis of various types of tumors. It acts either as an enhancer or an inhibitor of cancer development.
  • L-arginine is a precursor to creatine, ornithine, and citrulline.
  • Creatine is built from L-arginine, L-methionine, and glycine.

Therapeutic recommendations: There are indications that the properties of the substances contained in the product may have a positive effect on health disorders of the mentioned indications:

  • in case of NO deficiency, in case of L-arginine deficiency
  • in case of vasoconstriction, vascular diseases, and circulatory disorders (arteriosclerosis, sudden hearing loss); NO promotes blood circulation and reduces platelet aggregation
  • in case of elevated ADMA plasma levels and endothelial dysfunctions
  • in case of high blood pressure
  • in case of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance; L-arginine promotes insulin release; glycogen synthesis
  • in case of acute and chronic infections by stimulating T-lymphocyte formation, boosts TH1 response
  • in pain therapy by increasing the body's own pain-relieving peptide kyotorphin (tyrosinyl-arginine), analgesic
  • Sports: anabolic effect, increased secretion of STH, and increased fat breakdown (lipolysis)
  • improved wound healing in case of injuries and burns
  • for the treatment of erectile dysfunction
  • in neurodegeneration: ammonia breakdown in the urea cycle is promoted

Contraindications:Do not use in children under 6 years of age. In case of impaired kidney, liver, or heart function and albumin deficiency, an adjustment of the individual dose is recommended. Patients taking beta-blockers have an increased risk of a decompensated cardiovascular reaction, as beta-blockers inhibit the effect of adrenaline (emergency medical treatment). Patients with a tendency to allergic reactions and/or with diseases based on histamine release (e.g., asthma) should be asked about known allergens according to the principles of therapeutic due diligence.

Contraindications:pathologically increased iNO concentrations, which lead to an increase in oxidative and nitrosative cell stress.

Note for doctors and therapists: In principle, the doctor/therapist determines the indication for individual prescriptions. The suggestion is merely a recommendation for a therapeutic option, whereby the dosage and frequency of application are solely at the discretion of the doctor/therapist. The treating therapist is responsible for the treatment and must individually examine and assess the respective application for each patient before starting treatment.

We have researched the literature with the greatest possible care. Nevertheless, we assume no liability for the completeness and topicality of the study information. Many of the therapy options mentioned in the product information are based on findings obtained from animal or human cell cultures, animal experiments, observational studies, and, to a lesser extent, randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
The evidence for complementary medicines is subject to continuous development, which can sometimes lead to different results. We therefore recommend that therapists always carefully review the current state of research before using such preparations.
